Ministries

The Lord has blessed our church with a team of workers who have a heart to serve God and others in our areas of ministry. We hope that we can serve you and that you will consider serving as well.

We invite you to take a few minutes to browse the above ministries of Calvary Baptist Church. Our prayer is that you'll find just what you're looking for!

AWANA

AWANA is about reaching boys and girls for Jesus!  AWANA is a biblically-based program for children, operated by the local church.

Calvary Baptist Church currently has clubs for K-5 through 6th grades.  We meet on Wednesday nights from 6:30-8:15 p.m.  The clubs are designed for children to be with boys and girls of their own ages.  Each club night consists of songs, games, verse memorization from clubber books, and a life lesson from the Word of God.  Cost for the club is minimal.  If you are interested in your child attending our AWANA clubs, please contact us at (831) 384-7743, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Nursery

Why do we care about babies, toddlers, preschoolers, and more? Because they are a gift from God, a heritage (and because you'll never see a baby come to church without bringing a parent along!).  A well-run, organized nursery is extremely vital to our church.

We're more than just a babysitting service - we have a part in training little ones to know and love the Lord.  Through a warm, loving atmosphere, a child will grow in their love for God.

We want to make every child feel as safe and secure as possible.  By the time a child is ready to leave the nursery at five years old, we want them to know that church is a fun place where the whole family learns about the Lord.

Junior Church

Our Junior Church serves our young ones aged 4 years to 6th grade. After beginning the worship service with us and singing with us, they are dismissed before the sermon for their own learning time, tuned more for their age. They enjoy fellowship with their peers, and we teach them valuable lessons from God's Word.

Teens

Our youth ministry is under the direction of Pastor and Mrs. Kinney. Our goal is to use the Word of God and age-oriented activities to bring young people to a closer relationship with Christ.

Christian Camping

Christian camping is a big part of our ministry.  The Lord has used Ironwood Camp in southern California to mold the hearts of young people all across this nation.  Ironwood is our choice for summer camp.

A Myriad of Activities Await

Living in California has many advantages! There are an endless variety of activities for young people - Paramount Great America in Santa Clara, Disneyland in Anaheim, Six Flags Magic Mountain in Valencia, and numerous ski resorts in Northern California (which is where we spend our Winter Camp each year).

Serving Others

Our young people are also challenged to serve others.  A service project is planned each month.  This could include yard clean-up for our church seniors, a church workday, a spaghetti dinner, or even sending care packages to college students and missionaries!

Sunday School

Sunday School's not just for kids!  With classes spanning from two year-olds to adult classes, Sunday School is our means of providing the believer with a more in-depth look into the Word of God and how it relates to us right where we live.  There's something here for everyone, no matter what your stage in life.  We’d love for you to join us - classes start at 9:45!

Ladies

Ladies are special!  That's why we have a ministry especially for them! Our Ladies Sunday school class is a place of spiritual growth.  From topics that include finding the secret of a happy heart to discovering your true, Biblical role as a wife, you will find that this class will meet you right where you live each and every day.  And, of course, we still find those other times during the year to do what ladies do best - fellowship!

There is also a Tuesday afternoon Ladies Bible Study that meets at the church from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Our teens volunteer to play with the children in the gym.

Home School

We believe very strongly in Christian education, and it is our desire to support the many families in our church who have chosen to independently educate their children.  Marina Christian School, although not a physical school on site, is an optional umbrella program to support the education processes of the children in our church who are taught at home.

The administrators of Marina Christian School help coordinate testing and other educational requirements.  In addition, there are activities, workshops, and outings in which the home school group periodically participates as a group.  They also get the opportunity to meet other home-schooled children from other churches at official home school gatherings.

If you are a parent who home-schools your children, you will find a wonderful support group among the families of Calvary Baptist Church.
